Molasses Cookies



  1. mix sugar, and molasses in hot water
  2. stir in melted shortening
  3. sift together dry ingredients
  4. mix liquid into dry
  5. Divide dough into two
  6. chill overnight
  7. roll out 1/4 inch thick on floured surface
  8. cut into round cookies (we always used a drinking glass as the cutter)
  9. bake at 375 for 8-10 minutes on greased cookie sheet
  10. frost with lemon icing
