Smith & Truslow Organic Smoked Paprika is USDA certified organic and third-party tested for heavy metals β delivering the deep, complex, wood-smoke-infused red pepper flavor that makes smoked paprika one of the most transformative and addictive spices in the modern kitchen.
Our organic smoked paprika is made from premium certified organic red peppers that are slowly dried over wood fires a process that infuses the pepper with a rich, campfire-like smokiness.Β Our organic smoked paprika has a brilliant deep red color, rich essential oils, and intensely aromatic smoke character. Whether you're seasoning a Spanish paella, flavoring a classic patatas bravas, building a smoky dry rub for the grill, adding depth to a chili, finishing a deviled egg with a dramatic smoky flourish, or bringing authentic chorizo flavor to a dish, Smith & Truslow organic smoked paprika delivers a depth, complexity, and aromatic intensity that sweet paprika and conventional smoked paprika simply can't match.
What Makes Smoked Paprika Different β and Why Smoke Quality Matters
Smoked paprika is not simply regular paprika with smoke flavoring added β and this distinction matters enormously for both flavor and purity. Authentic smoked paprika gets its smokiness from a wood fire that infuses the pepper with genuine smoke character resulting in a complex, layered flavor with subtle notes of wood, earth, and sweet pepper beneath the smoke. Inferior smoked paprika is often made from conventionally dried paprika with artificial smoke flavoring added afterward β delivering a flat, one-dimensional, chemical-tasting smoke that bears little resemblance to the real thing. Smith & Truslow Organic Smoked Paprika does not use artificial smoke flavoring.Β No shortcuts, no compromise.
Smoked Paprika vs Sweet Paprika vs Hot Paprika β Choosing the Right One
Paprika comes in three main styles and understanding the difference transforms the way you cook. Sweet paprika β the most widely used variety β delivers mild, fruity, slightly sweet red pepper flavor with little heat and no smokiness. It adds beautiful color and gentle warmth to any dish. Smoked paprika delivers that same sweet red pepper base layered with a deep, complex smokiness, making it the defining flavor of Spanish cuisine and an irreplaceable ingredient in chorizo seasoning, patatas bravas, and countless grilled and smoked dishes. Hot paprika adds heat to the red pepper profile for dishes that need both spice and color. For everyday cooking smoked paprika is the most versatile and exciting of the three β it adds a campfire depth to any dish that sweet paprika simply cannot replicate.Β
Why Our Organic Smoked Paprika Is Different
Most conventional smoked paprika is made from peppers grown with synthetic pesticides, processed with artificial smoke flavoring to simulate the real oak-smoking process, and stored in conditions that dull its brilliant color and mute its complex flavor. Some brands use artificial colorants to restore the deep red color that fades from stale or poorly processed smoked paprika. Not ours. Every lot of Smith & Truslow organic smoked paprika is made from 100% certified organic smoked red peppers with nothing added β no artificial smoke flavoring, no colorants, no fillers, no anticaking agents, no irradiation β and tested by an accredited third-party lab against heavy metal specifications more stringent than industry standards. Authentic smoke. Brilliant color. Pure flavor. Nothing hidden.

Storage and Shelf Life
Storage and Shelf Life
Storage: To maximize freshness, store in a dark airtight container in a cool dry place. Once the spice is ground, flavor deteriorates with exposure to light, heat, air, humidity and time. Here are rules of thumb about the shelf life of spices and herbs >
NOTE: The plastic refill bags are not intended for long-term storage of your spices. Due to the porous nature of plastic, the essential oils that are released when a spice is ground, may react with the plastic and/or labelling inks over time.
Refill bags contain the same amount of spice as in our small glass jars. When they arrive, simply snip the corner of your bag, refill your original Smith & Truslow spice jar, apply the new label, and recycle the bag.
