Smith & Truslow Organic Granulated Garlic is USDA certified organic and third-party tested for heavy metals — delivering the rich, deeply savory, intensely aromatic garlic flavor that makes granulated garlic one of the most essential and versatile forms of garlic in every serious cook's spice cabinet.

Our organic granulated garlic is made from premium certified organic garlic cloves, carefully dehydrated and granulated to a coarser texture than garlic powder — preserving a slightly more pronounced, robust garlic presence and a satisfying texture that clings beautifully to proteins, adheres perfectly to vegetables during roasting, and releases its flavor gradually during long, slow cooking. Whether you're building a dry rub for the grill, seasoning a pot roast, flavoring a pizza dough, adding depth to a marinade, building a spice blend, or simply reaching for garlic flavor without the prep time of fresh cloves, Smith & Truslow organic granulated garlic delivers a consistent, full-bodied garlic intensity that fresh garlic and conventional granulated garlic simply can't replicate.

Granulated Garlic vs Garlic Powder vs Fresh Garlic — What's the Difference?

Granulated garlic, garlic powder, and fresh garlic each play a distinct and irreplaceable role in serious cooking — and understanding the difference between them is one of the most practical things a home cook can know. Fresh garlic delivers bright, sharp, pungent, slightly grassy flavor with moisture and natural sugars that caramelize beautifully in a hot pan — ideal for sautéed dishes, raw preparations like aioli and vinaigrettes, and anywhere you want the assertive, unmistakable presence of real garlic front and center. Garlic powder is finely ground to an ultra-smooth consistency that dissolves instantly and invisibly into liquids, sauces, and wet preparations — delivering evenly distributed garlic flavor without any textural presence. Granulated garlic sits between fresh and powder in both texture and character — coarser than garlic powder with a slightly more rustic, pronounced garlic presence that adheres better to the surfaces of proteins and vegetables, releases flavor more gradually during cooking, and holds up beautifully in dry rubs, spice blends, and coating applications where the finer grind of garlic powder would either dissolve too quickly or clump. For dry rubs and spice blends, granulated garlic is almost always the superior choice over garlic powder — the slightly larger particle size delivers a more consistent, longer-lasting garlic flavor throughout the cooking process.

Why Our Organic Granulated Garlic Is Different

Most conventional granulated garlic is made from garlic grown with synthetic pesticides, processed with anticaking agents to prevent clumping, and packaged months or years before reaching your kitchen — losing the essential oils, volatile sulfur compounds, and fresh garlic intensity that give great granulated garlic its distinctive, robust flavor. Some brands blend granulated garlic with starch fillers and lower-grade garlic varieties to reduce costs at the expense of flavor purity and potency. Not ours. Every lot of Smith & Truslow organic granulated garlic is made from 100% certified organic garlic cloves with nothing added — no fillers, no anticaking agents, no irradiation — and tested by an accredited third-party lab against heavy metal specifications more stringent than industry standards. Pure garlic. Maximum potency. Nothing hidden.

Storage and Shelf Life

Storage: To maximize freshness, store in a dark airtight container in a cool dry place. Once the spice is ground, flavor deteriorates with exposure to light, heat, air, humidity and time. Here are rules of thumb about the shelf life of spices and herbs >

NOTE: The plastic refill bags are not intended for long-term storage of your spices. Due to the porous nature of plastic, the essential oils that are released when a spice is ground, may react with the plastic and/or labelling inks over time.

Refill bags contain the same amount of spice as in our small glass jars. When they arrive, simply snip the corner of your bag, refill your original Smith & Truslow spice jar, apply the new label, and recycle the bag.

Product Testing

Certificates of analysis (COAs) accompany our products through the supply chain. COAs identify country of origin, certifications, best by dates, and information on product testing including microbial analysis and heavy metal testing.

If you would like to review the COA for the lot we are currently selling, please send an email to: customerservice@smithandtruslow.com.

As we only test ingredients, but not blends, we can only provide COA's on individual spices.
