Smith & Truslow Organic Lemon Pepper Sea Salt is USDA certified organic, and every ingredient is third-party tested for heavy metals — delivering the bright citrus zing and warm peppery heat that makes lemon pepper one of the most versatile three-ingredient seasonings in any kitchen.
Our organic lemon pepper sea salt combines sea salt, USDA certified organic lemon peel, and USDA certified organic black pepper into a bright, bold, three-in-one seasoning. Whether you're seasoning grilled chicken, baked salmon, or roasted vegetables, sprinkling it over salads and grain bowls, or rimming a cocktail glass, Smith & Truslow Organic Lemon Pepper Sea Salt delivers a lift of brightness and a kick of pepper in every shake.
Why Lemon and Pepper Work So Well Together
Lemon peel and black pepper are, on the surface, an unlikely pairing — one bright and citrusy, the other warm and pungent — but together they create a flavor combination that has become one of the most enduringly popular seasoning blends in American cooking. The citrus oils in dried lemon peel provide a sharp, aromatic brightness that cuts through richness and fat, while black pepper's warmth and subtle heat provide a savory counterbalance that keeps the seasoning from tasting one-dimensionally sour. Together, anchored by clean sea salt, the combination delivers a seasoning that is bright enough to lift delicate proteins like fish and chicken, yet bold enough to stand up to heartier preparations.
Why Organic Lemon Peel Makes the Difference
The quality of dried lemon peel varies enormously, and low-grade lemon peel — often including more of the bitter white pith than the aromatic outer zest — produces a flat, slightly bitter seasoning rather than the bright, true citrus character great lemon pepper should deliver. Smith & Truslow uses USDA certified organic lemon peel, carefully processed to capture the aromatic oils concentrated in the outer zest, paired with freshly ground organic black pepper for maximum pungency and warmth.

Storage and Shelf Life
Storage and Shelf Life
Storage: To maximize freshness, store in a dark airtight container in a cool dry place. Once the spice is ground, flavor deteriorates with exposure to light, heat, air, humidity and time. Here are rules of thumb about the shelf life of spices and herbs >
NOTE: The plastic refill bags are not intended for long-term storage of your spices. Due to the porous nature of plastic, the essential oils that are released when a spice is ground, may react with the plastic and/or labelling inks over time.
Refill bags contain the same amount of spice as in our small glass jars. When they arrive, simply snip the corner of your bag, refill your original Smith & Truslow spice jar, apply the new label, and recycle the bag.
Product Testing
Product Testing
Certificates of analysis (COAs) accompany our products through the supply chain. COAs identify country of origin, certifications, best by dates, and information on product testing including microbial analysis and heavy metal testing.
If you would like to review the COA for the lot we are currently selling, please send an email to: customerservice@smithandtruslow.com.
As we only test ingredients, but not blends, we can only provide COA's on individual spices.
