Breakfast

This avocado toast with egg and Za'atar is a 10-minute breakfast that tastes like it came from a café: creamy sliced avocado on crisp toast, topped with a fried egg and a generous sprinkle of our organic Za'atar, a Middle Eastern blend of thyme, sumac and sesame. It's vegetarian, quick enough for a weekday and pretty enough for brunch.

Avocado Toast with Egg & Za'atar Seasoning

Ingredients

  • 1/2 avocado, sliced
  • 1 slice bread (Dave's Organic Good Seed Bread shown here)
  • Butter, oil or non-stick spray
  • 1 egg
  • ½ teaspoon Organic Za’atar
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Directions

  1. Toast the bread.

  2. Heat the butter or oil in a small frying pan over medium heat. Crack in the egg and cook to your liking, 2-4 minutes.

  3. Lay the avocado slices on the toast and lightly mash with a fork. Season with salt and pepper.

  4. Top with the egg and sprinkle with Za'atar.

Why Za atar Seasoning from Smith and Truslow?

Za’atar Seasoning combines the tangy, lemony flavor of sumac berries, with a slightly nutty quality of sesame seeds, and a savory finish of blended herbs. Sprinkle it on vegetables, use as a rub for meats, or add to yogurt or olive oil as a dip. As with all our blends, we only use organic, gluten free, kosher and heavy metal tested ingredients.  There are no additives, so the flavor of our pure ingredients shines through.
