Pita chips baked with our organic Za'atar are tangy, nutty and herby all at once, thanks to sumac, toasted sesame, thyme and savory. They're easy to make and ready in about 15 minutes. Serve them with a cool yogurt mint dip and introduce your guests to the flavor of za'atar. The chips are dairy-free; the dip is optional.

Za'atar Pita Chips

Ingredients

    Za’atar Pita Chips

    • 4 tablespoons Organic Za'atar
    • 5 tablespoons olive oil
    • 2 pita flatbreads

    Yogurt Mint Dip (optional)

    • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
    • 1 tablespoon fresh mint, finely chopped
    • 1 small garlic clove, minced
    • Pinch of fine sea salt

    Directions

    1. Preheat oven to 350°F.

    2. Combine Za'atar Seasoning and olive oil in a small bowl to form a paste.

    3. Cut pita open around the edge to create two rounds. Repeat with second pita.

    4. Place pita rounds on a baking sheet. Spread Za'atar paste over rough sides of pita rounds using back of a spoon.

    5. Bake until edges are golden, about 5-7 minutes.

    6. Cool and cut, or break, into wedges.

    7. For dip: combine yogurt, mint, garlic and salt. Serve alongside pita chips.

Why Za atar Seasoning from Smith and Truslow?

Za’atar Seasoning combines the tangy, lemony flavor of sumac berries, with a slightly nutty quality of sesame seeds, and a savory finish of blended herbs. Sprinkle it on vegetables, use as a rub for meats, or add to yogurt or olive oil as a dip. As with all our blends, we only use organic, gluten free, kosher and heavy metal tested ingredients.  There are no additives, so the flavor of our pure ingredients shines through.
