These crispy pork chops get their crunch from crushed bran flakes and their bright, tangy flavor from our organic Za'atar, ground sumac and fresh lemon zest. Dip, press and pan-fry for a golden, flavor-packed crust in about 25 minutes. Serve with a green salad or our Riced Za'atar Cauliflower. Dairy-free.

Za'atar & Sumac Crusted Pork Chops

Ingredients

  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup crushed bran flakes
  • 1 teaspoon Organic Sumac, Ground
  • 1 teaspoon Organic Za’atar
  • 1 teaspoon rice flour
  • zest of 1 lemon
  • 1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 4 bone-in pork chops, about 3/4 inch thick
  • ¼ cup olive oil

Directions

  1. Beat the egg in a shallow bowl. In another shallow bowl, mix the crushed bran flakes with the sumac, za'atar, rice flour, lemon zest and salt. Dip each chop in the egg, then press into the seasoned crumbs to coat thoroughly.

  2. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chops and cook, turning occasionally, until golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 145°F, 10 to 12 minutes. Let rest 3 minutes before serving.

Why Za atar Seasoning from Smith and Truslow?

Za’atar Seasoning combines the tangy, lemony flavor of sumac berries, with a slightly nutty quality of sesame seeds, and a savory finish of blended herbs. Sprinkle it on vegetables, use as a rub for meats, or add to yogurt or olive oil as a dip. As with all our blends, we only use organic, gluten free, kosher and heavy metal tested ingredients.  There are no additives, so the flavor of our pure ingredients shines through.
